JBHHH # 2264 (29-02-2012)
THE LEAP-YEAR DAY RUN
It’s 29th February and it comes only quadrennially; fortunately it doesn’t mean that Hares THAMSOOK and JUICY have only to lay their run every four years! This veteran duo has no lack of supporters; they had a platoon of co-hares led by the Ulu Tiram Mafia comprising Long Cock and his henchmen ZOO SHE, BOTAK YENG and ZHUMICHONG. What a contingent of heavyweights just to lay a simple three-check run.
The run-site was at the cul-de-sac of PELANGI INDAH, now barricaded with a corrugated hoarding complete with locked gates. The turnout was the usual eightyish and the twin Hares were there early to take the roll-call while the takraw boys were creating a racket with their weekly (weakly) wretched game!
The three-check run started with a stroll over the silvery pipe and then turning left towards the foothills before making the dreaded ascent on the gas-pipe corridor; this lengthy climb sapped up more than half hour! Many followed the contours of the SAJ pipe and went for an evening stroll in direction of JP Perdana
while another herd followed the Mongolian herdsman and rounded to the posterior of Putreriwangsa and finding their way back via Puteri Park. The paper-puritans adhered religiously to the trail and turned left after the gas-pipe and went for a prolong stint of bush-bashing within the rubber and the palms. Two other
checks within this terrain were very quickly ferreted out by Killer Heng and Sore Arse; the duo raced back to the site in just under the hour. Other runners trickled in from all directions. There was food-galore onsite that some cynics said made the On-On redundant!
CIRCLE started with the usual (and by now boring!) Swing-Low Hymn and was followed by some coarse warbling from the mouth of LSB. When the GM passed the baton to the Whip, in typical contempt of proceedings, the cacophony of the chatters continued to heckle the floor with increased decibels! Perhaps we should re-introduce the Water Shoot to silence these loquacious bastards! Week after week, poor Kimchi was singled out for the ice! Is this some kind of victimization? Or has the Whip got some personal vendetta against this hapless female!? In the midst of the hullaballoo two guests went around the shake and
rattled off five names rather effortlessly. Poor Zhumichong who was fingered out as their host (by some earlier connivance and frame-up!) had to sit on the block until his buttocks looked like a mortuary mass!
Why can’t the actual host have the guts to stand out instead of conspiring to torture others? Or perhaps we should do away with this system altogether and have the visitors sit on the Ice and we in turn queue up to
shake their hands. The last floor-taker was Pangjio and she did bring a whiff of fresh air to the dull circle.
The On-On was at nearby Soon Lee Bitter-Gourd Soup and we had a merrier On-On than the circle. Food
can do wonders! Thanks JUICY and THAMSOOK for the bottles on the table. EM-KOI!

It, being the GM's run the heavens was merciful. The weather was fine, hot and humid.
Not a drop of rain.
I started out quite early, not wanting to be caught in any traffic snarl and not wanting to
inadvertently take the wrong turnings when I reached the Iskandar area with its maze
of highways. Besides, I am not quite familiar with the location of the run-site. Well,
blame it on the GM lah!
Stopping over at Taman Perling for a drink of of teh tarik at a mamak restaurant. After
paying the toll fee I decided to drive at a leisurely pace, keeping a keen eye on the
road signs and any hash signs lest I end up in Tuas or Timbuktu. You got the drift?
Thankfully there wasn't any hitch and I managed to turn into an old road leading to the
run-site and the Primary school. Time: 4.20pm. Not a hash soul within sight. I drove
to the security post further on and made some enquries. A stern-looking guard eyed
me with suspicion. My conversation with the guy went something like this :-
"Hello," I greeted him. "Sini ada orang masuk buat jogging tak?"
The guard answered, "Jogging yah!"
I repeated,"You tahu jogging."
He shot back, "Jogging yoh!"
I decided to change tack, "Ada orang masuk buat lari tak?" At the same time gesturing
with both hands the motion of a runner.
The guy seems to be a nut and he replied, "Oh lali. Sini mana mana boleh lali."
Finally I resigned to the fact that he must be an alien and asked one last question.
"Ada banyak kereta masuk dalam?"
"Oh kereta, yah yah banyak kereta masuk dalam!"
He waved me on. Two hundred meters into the vast area I found out he was right literally.
"Banyak kereta dalam." Myriads of kereta or in English lorries laden with earth were
plying the landscape. Turning around I parked in front of the school and contacted GM
by phone. She replied and informed that she was still on top of the mountain and trying
to negotiate her way down with her co-hares and that the run-site was in front of the
school.
By 5-45pm there was quite a large turn-out - members, guests and members from other
chapters. And when GM finally emerged from the leech infested jungle with her co-hares
Flintstone and Pang Leo in tow the run was about to begin. The run started along the
periphery of the mountain for as far as the eye could see and then I would presume led
upwards. What happened next and at the circle or at the on-on I plead ignorance. Not
there lah!
Plenty of finger foods and others at the beer wagon. There's sponsors galore. Long Cock
and wife came with their nasi lemak speciality, Seng Bock and wife sponsored many
different kinds of delicious nyonya kueh. And then there were yong tau foo and someone
brought in a huge container of curry puffs. Someone mentioned that each one need to tar
pau something home and the foods were good enough for both dinner and supper.
Thanks to GM and her co-hares for the mountaineering experience and for the beer and
food at the on on. Thanks also to the generous sponsors of food. By the way, how come
my run no one sponsors huh? On On!

Johor Bahru Hash House Harriers 2261

RUN NO: 2261
WHEN: 08th Feb 12
HARES: BIG BUM 016-7721448/NO CONDOM 019-7309200
WHERE: UNIVERSITI KUALA LUMPUR, SERI ALAM
HOW: Take Tebrau-Kota Tinggi Road, turn left to Ulu Tiram town. Travel for about 2km, before the football field lookout for HHH signs & turn right. Go all the way straight till the end.

Run No : 2261 8th February 2012
Hares: Big Bum and No Condom Runsite: Seri Alam Uni KL
Runsite: Park along the road to University Kuala Lumpur. Road is wide for but we usually take the left lane with lesser traffic. Seems to be the only runsite in Seri Alam now. If you get here too early, its very hot with no shelter. The sepak takraw gang has to move all away into the nearby trees . Turn out was pretty good today and its seems many need to come for the run to tone down the extra inches put on during Chinese New Year

Run: It started going behind the Mara college, different from the usual route. First check was at Flora height and it was easily found as many had expected the trail to veer left. Second check caught a few front runners off guard as they had expected it to head towards home. Instead, it continued deeper. Iron Man and
Cuci shortcutted in the process and got home at 7.15pm. Actual front runner got back around 7.30pm and this was definitely a long run.

Circle: In the absence of the hash whip, things got a little more exciting with new faces and ideas in the
circle. Loudspeaker stood as mystery whip and that was followed by Soh Big and Flinstone. Many were put on ice for various offences.

ON ON ON – Makan was at our favourite FooToo in Taman Rinting. The hares ordered sumptuous food with two bottles of golden fluid per table. Thanks to the hares for doing a great do especially on a Wednesday night.
