The Chairman Yap Yau Chou apologised to all the delegates for the lethargy and non-activity these past two years; he said due to work commitment coupled with the ill health of his Hon. Secretary, he was unable to discharge his duties efficiently. He hopes that the incoming chairman and his committee can do a better job and revive the spirit of cooperation amongst the Johor Hash chapters.
He thanked those who have in one way or another assisted the Johor Hash Council especially Yong Peng HHH who has always so graciously allow us the use of their premises for meetings.
- TO CONFIRM THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS ADM (05th April, 2008)
The Chairman said that the secretary is not well and the minutes cannot be prepared in time; however he said it will be circulated via email to all chapters. Lim Seng Bock proposed that the minutes be adopted subject to any objections from any of the chapters after the email has been sent; if there are any errors or objections the incoming committee shall have to address it and table it at the next ADM, if there are no amendments or objections then it shall be deemed to be adopted by this ADM. He was seconded by Wong Kam Loong.
- MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES
As there are no matters raised, the Chairman decided that we should move to the next item.
- TO RECEIVE THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR
Due to the lack of activities, there was not much to report and the Chairman once again apologised for this state of affairs which he regretted very much. Low Chee Meng then proposed that the annual report though brief and verbal shall be received as it is. He was seconded by Ang Hua Tiong.
- TO RECEIVE AND APPROVE THE AUDITED ACCOUNTS OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR
As the Treasurer Lee Tet Long was absent, Lim Seng Bock said he had been asked by the former to present the statement of account on his behalf. - TO ELECT A NEW COMMITTEE FOR THE YEAR 2009/2010
The meeting unanimously appointed Bernard Lim to chair the elections. The following persons were proposed and seconded for the respective posts and were declared elected unopposed by the temporary chairman as there were no other candidates.

The incoming Chairman Lim Seng Bock proposed that the Grandmaster of each chapter shall ex-officio be the club representative in the committee; this proposal was unanimously accepted.
- TO APPOINT TWO HONORARY AUDITORS
The Chairman then invited the meeting to appoint two internal auditors; by popular acclamation Ong Ka Chuan and Chong Pak Seng were appointed auditors for the year 2009/2010.
- TO APPROVE THE BUDGET FOR THE ENSUING YEAR
The meeting decided that since the Council has just revived from dormancy, it is better for the incoming committee to chart the course of events and fix the budget accordingly after their first committee meeting.
- TO CONSIDER ANY OTHER BUSINESS
- Lim Seng Bock raised the subject of the Annual Johor Joint Run which has been shelved for a couple of years; he said only Segamat Monday, Kahang, Layang-Layang, Muar Phoenix and Skudai have not hosted this annual gathering. He further added that the levy of RM30 be maintained and that the hosting chapter shall only be required to provide the basics and not to be too lavish. The main aim is to promote goodwill and fellowship among Johor hashers.
- K.P. Shanmugan proposed that we should do a charity run for the Red Crescent which Tengku Zarith can give us support; the meeting request that he furnishes more details to the incoming committee.
- Lee Cheng Hoe wants to know what happened to the affiliation-fees of Johor Chapters; Lim Seng Bock replied that since 2003 when Tan Too Giok (Captain) was the Treasurer the JHC has decided not to collect the affiliation-fees for the time being as there are not much expenses required.
- Chong Pak Seng expressed his displeasure over the JHC’s lack of activities and leadership for the last two and half years; he said as the GM of Gunung Lambak he found it extremely awkward when he is confronted by his own members about the well-being of the JHC to which he has no reply. He further hopes that the incoming committee makes it a point to take turns to go round all Johor to visit and foster relationship with affiliates.
- Lim Seng Bock explained to Chong Pak Seng that it is quite unfair to level criticism at the outgoing Chairman; he explained that at the time when the position fell vacant both the previous two Chairmen, Lim Seng Bock himself and Wong Kam Loong had some domestic predicaments that require their attention and Dato Rughber Singh from Muar was supposed to take over; due to whatever reasons the latter failed to turn up at that ADM and did not indicate his intention to assume the position and Yap Yau Chou was more or less ‘forced’ into the chair; coupled with the fact that his Secretary has some health problems the JHC was thus crippled.
- Thye Yuk Keong requests that the JHC sets up a Website so that all information from all Johor chapters can be posted therein; Raymond Lim assured him that he and the new Secretary Lim Pay Yin will be working it soon.
- Tan Hock Kim and Chong Pak Seng expressed the hope that the JHC committee should not be monopolised by JB chapters only; Lim Seng Bock replied that unlike previous terms, the other districts are not quite willing to take up the positions, he further added that in the past there were reps from Kluang and Muar but due to distance they find it difficult to communicate; perhaps in this modern day and age with new lines of contact this problem will solve by itself.
- Ang Hua Tiong brought up the subject of Hash calendar of events clashing; the incoming chairman then requested that all those chapters who are hosting functions to submit their dates and details early to the JHC secretary who will post it on the Website; this calendar will also be relayed to the MHC for coordination on a national level.
- The new Chairman then invited those chapters who will be hosting functions to announce on the spot.
- Koid Tang Gwan announced that Cha’ah HHH will be hosting their 22nd Anniversary on 07th November 2009 and the levy is RM60.
- Tan Hock Kim informed that Batu Pahat HHH will be holding their annual dinner and dance on 12th December 2009 and the cost is RM80 per person.
- Phua Yoke Na announced that Yong Peng HHH will organise a Hantu Run on 21st August 2009 and the registration fee is RM40.
- Gary Lai from Penggaram Wankers announced that his chapter will be celebrating their 777 Run on 29th August 2009 and the event is FOC for Batang chapters only.
- Lee Cheng Hoe the GM of Tanjung Petri HHH announced that they will be hosting their 30th Anniversary on 10th October 2009 and the levy is RM60 and the event is strictly for Batangs only.
- The Chairman then invited the distinguished observers to address the meeting to canvass for their respective functions
- The first to address the meeting was M. Murugan, Chairman of Malaysian Hash Council; he gave a brief background on the general principles and tenets of hashing and also expressed his hope that the hashing brotherhood will burgeon and foster friendly relationship among chapters and more statewide joint runs will be organised; he congratulated the JHC for being the first state to have such an umbrella body. He also hopes that the Johor chapters will contribute their full support for national hash functions.
- Looi Nai Boon (Uncle Looi) then held the floor to beseech those chapters that are not already affiliated to MHC to do so immediately as he has brought with him the relevant forms.
- Walking Tall then addressed the meeting to canvass support for the Malaysian Nash Hash which will be hosted by Royal Klang Club HHH from 12th to 14th March 2010; he then passed the registration forms around and announced that if each chapter can list out a group of 10 in each form, the registration fee shall be RM200 per participant instead of RM250 stated in the form; this is a special offer to Johor chapters.
- Antique Lim from the Malacca Hash Council canvassed support for the 1st World Heritage Run in Malacca which also coincides with the celebrations of the 500th anniversary of the Portuguese arrival in Malacca; the event will be over 15th to 17th April 2011 and the registration fee is RM150
- Next Lucy from Api-Api Hash (Sabah) promoted their 15th Anniversary Run on 19th-20th March, 2010; the levy is RM150. She passed the forms to those present and received an overwhelming response.
- There being other business, Varughese Mathews then proposed that meeting be adjourned and was seconded by Koid Tang Gwan; the chairman adjourned the meeting at 3.45 pm

Run No 2131
Hare : Hamper King and Safety Boots
Runsite: Impian Emas
After a heavy downpour in the afternoon, the rain finally stopped. Alas, the sepak takraw gang can start kicking again. One noticeable absence was the co hare ,Hamper King. His hamper kingdom is sprouting like mushrooms around Johor Bahru and this inadvertently canned his free time…..
The terrain was still wet, very very wet. Even as we enter across the open land towards the railway track, it was becoming more of an offroad adventure. Shoes were already muddy and wet by the time we got to the railway track. First check was an easy affair, however, within 300 metres of that we came to a flooded stream, chest deep and swift flowing. Many stopped at this point but our Moh Man Tai, without second thoughts, immediately jumped in and waded across. He was swept at least 25 feet downstream before making it across. Our Lat Bumper was next, with his long legs, he almost managed to leap across. Others almost made the jump, landed into the water and waded across. Out Lan Si was swept away and came up the same side…. In all , only 9 made it across. Others backed up or found alternative route.
The was no way to check further, trail paper was swept by the rain and can hardly be seen. One of the co hares, Bulldozer had to lead the way instead. However, his sub level IQ led us like a bumper car odyssey. In the last two kilometers of the trail, the terrain was fully submerged in knee deep water. We had to use the trees as guides and waded at least a good kilometer before finding high ground and the trail back across the railway track to the runsite. In many years of hashing, I would say that this was one of the most fun and memorable run(swim) we ever had…..
The circle was called to order at
Restaurant 63 was the place we rewarded ourselves with good food. The hares also made it free makan…..

Kojak Inaugural Run
If you look at the definition of ‘Kojak’ in Wikipedia, it goes like this…”Kojak is an American television series starring Telly Savalas as the eponymous, bald New York City Police Department Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak. It aired from October 24, 1973 to March 18, 1978 on CBS
The key word here is ‘BALD’ or in local term ‘BOTAK’. This idea of the JB Kojak Hash was spun by a bunch of bald senior hash men, half drunk after wild night of beer binging. A simple back to hashing idea of running once a month on the second week of the month. It will be a MEN only mismangement team, WOMEN are invited as guest only. Damages : RM50 yearly membership, with RM20, RM30 for members and guests respectively per run. A title of ‘founding member’ was offerred to anyone who signed up as member on the day.
Turnout on this inaugural run was overwhelming, 110 strong versus 100 available T shirts. From afar as Batu Pahat there was Bulldozer and Original. From Kahang, I see faces such as Liew Wen Chen and Hoon. From Layang, I could see Lau Su Kong and the pretty angels. There were also many familiar faces, Michael from MH3, Ah Pui from JCSC HASH, OKC, Double V, Tina, Goyang Goyang, Konkek, Ang Mo Lan (KTGM) and too many to list…. I would say that all the JB chapters were represented.
The run was called at 6.00pm and this run at Impian Emas took us through some muddy patches. It was a wet feet affair with some stream crossing. Checks seems to be a little far especially the third check, we took almost fifteen minutes to break. The combination of a wet gloomy weather and yellow trail paper added to the complication. The good thing was that it kept everyone together. It was an hour’s run.
Holding a circle of 100 strong without hailers was difficult but the GM Moh Man Tai, managed to on down the hares of the day and the GMs of visiting chapters. The new committees were introduces to the crowd ( see pictures above) Ninja took over the circle as hash whip and there was also our Disco Singh taking the circle open session.
The food served at 63 was also pretty okay, more vegetable dishes than meat. For the boat race session, JB HHH came in first. Led by Soh Big, Sore Arse and Safety Boots, the winner wasn’t judge by speed but rather by the least left over. It was a fun and successful night. Thanks to Tiger for being the sponsor for beer and thereafter the official beer for Kojak HHH .

BP FULLMOON HASH INAUGURAL RUN
(Friday 07th August, 2007 coinciding with the 17th Day of the Sixth Month Year of Ji Chou and the16th day of Syaaban, 1430)
This was an auspicious occasion, the inaugural run of a new Hash. The BP FULLMOON HASH couldn’t choose a better date than this. The day, by the Lunar Calendar, is Li Qiu which means the Arrival of Autumn. The run-site was at the Minyak Beku Jetty and the On-On was at the sprawling compounds of the nearby restaurant. Hashers from more than 30 chapters came to witness this historic event, some hailing from as far as Dubai! Before the run there was of course the usual chit-chat and the meeting of old friends; and to top it all there was a wide array of finger-food (more like whole meals!) for some pre-run bites. After the usual chaos of the registration and collection of t-shirts, ORIGINAL and her worse-half BULLDOZER were very busy trying to organise the typical unruly crowd. Somehow or rather the motley crowd got a bit disciplined by ORIGINAL’s threats and congregated for a group photo shoot and even swung their limbs for the warm-up aerobics!
The run was indeed a revelation for those unfamiliar with BP and for me, an old Batu Pahatian, a trip down memory lane. It started tamely along the tarmac out to the main Minyak Beku Road and then crossing over to the other side we trudged within some off-season durian plots and fallowed veggie farms. Whatever checks there were I do not have the opportunity to see as the FROPs were speeding away in competitive haste! The papered trail rounded the durian patch and looped back to a house with unfriendly canines (fortunately they were caged!) and brought us to cross the Sungei Suloh Road. Across the road we skirted the peaty palm plantation and found ourselves in the midst of Kampong Segenting; the bemused residents were gawking at us as if we were some Martians! Away from this Chinese village we came to the less-endowed Orang Laut hamlet which was soggy and stinking with the stench of dried-fish permeating the air! Behind these hovels we had to balance our way over the swampy mangrove and zigzagged in and out from beach to hill, some of the rocky terrain were perilous and quite formidable, especially for the fair damsels. Surviving this rock-climb we finally emerged on the beach where picnickers were posing for photos while we stopped for a beer. Away from the famed Perigi Batu Pahat we jogged for another click or so before turning back to the jetty again.
After the ablution the Circle was held in the compounds of the beach-front restaurant. Yours truly as JHC chairman was duly tasked to baptise the committee while all GMs were duly honoured with an on-down and draped with a ‘Moonist’ towel. The Circle then began in earnest and due to the cacophony of the loquacious crowd it was at times quite chaotic; I think it was a case of too many cooks! Whatever said and done the noisy crowd wasn’t complaining as there was a free flow of TIGERs whole night long. After the buffoonery, we adjourned nearby for a sit-down dinner and further revelry and inebriation until the cows some home! It was indeed a very memorable Inaugural for the BP FULLMOON HASH and we wish that the Full Moon will shine bright every month! A BIG KAMSIAH TO MAO TSE-TUNG AND YOUR POLITBURO! LSB

JBHHH RUN No. 2125 (01-07-09)HARES: SEEPAYSONG AND ANTI-CLIMAX, RUN ALSO SEEPAYSONG! Lim Sui Keng (Seepaysong) and his faster half Ten Min Fong (Anti-climax) laid a very sensible run at their own backyard in Taman Indec (Berjaya Industrial Park). The turnout was phenomenal with so many guests from the fledgling Skudai Hash and some dog-eaters from Kulai. Seepaysong gave the usual pre-run briefing which, as usual too, fell on deaf ears. Like all runs here, it started with all of us hurdling over the berm and plunging into the ubiquitous palms. The trail was rather tame and circuitous which facilitated the SCBs to do their bidding effortlessly. There were four checks in all; the first was on the verge of a gully and paper was found across the chasm. The second was a backie near the veggie farm but due to familiarity of the terrain the front hounds sniffed out the connection without much ado. The third and the fourth were deep in the palm estate but were placed close by. Bulldozer, who was fondling his horn, unabashedly pressed it harder even though he was short-cutting. This in fact was an act of sabotage! SCBs should never hail the On-call! After descending from the last check, the red trail appeared on the long straight track that was in effect the ‘Jalan Ah Fook’ of this estate and the Indec houses were just at the tip. Back at the beer-wagon there was a vast array of finger-food that can even satiate a cow! Anti-climax is really a good kueh-maker! In fact some of the assortments of delicacies were personally made by her. As it was not a very long run, everyone came back in broad daylight and even had the luxury to indulge in some post-run gossips before washing up. Circle started with a one-minute’s silence for the demise of Free Beer’s mother and then the boring Swing Low was swung with the pungent durian-eaters taking the lead. Moh Mun Thai and Screwdriver sang a few hash hymns before the GM iced the Hares and their two slaves, AJINOMOTO and IRONMAN. The Whip was at his level best this week and was able to walk with a balanced gait after his gout is out! Due to the enthusiasm and over-exuberance of the Whip and the floor-takers, the Circle dragged on until 9.25 pm! The On-On was at 63 in Impian Emas and, as promised, there was a lucky draw courtesy of the generous hares; or was it a way to gain popularity? Perhaps Seepaysong should join politics! Anyway many thanks for the lovely On-On and the bottles you bought. Many Happy Returns to the July Babies!

The weather was indeed searing, but David See cannot see. No he isn’t blind, it’s just that in Hokkien it means David cannot die! In fact despite the scorching heat, he, together with Fuel Pump, Maochong and G-String, laid a commendable trail stretching from the SERI AUSTIN run-site to the edge of Adda Heights, Bandar Dato Onn, the posterior of Starhill Golf Club and right up to the pylons in the interior of Ladang Tebrau. It was a long and circuitous trail that was forcibly bisected by the river which has only two bridges spanning it; miss these and we have to get wet!
The run started with a stroll down the Bangla enclave where the bemused inhabitants were preparing dinner in their respective hovels with music blaring away. Upon the slippery descent to the shades of the palms paper turned left towards the edge of the housing estate and swung back to the main track, heading east until we were within sight of Adda Heights and Bandar Dato Onn. Thereafter the trail followed a riparian route following the meanders of the river; but where were we going to suffer the inevitable wade? About a quarter down the trail it happened; but the Hares were thoughtful enough to chop down a fallen tree to serve as a bridge. Balancing across however was a precarious affair, especially for some faint-hearted damsels! After this circus-act, the trail veered left into the nether regions of this vast estate and paused for another two checks, both of which were easily ferreted out by the galloping steeds upfront with consummate ease, leaving the chasing pack panting and puffing far behind .The trail finally wound its way up to the tarmac near the oxidation-pond and our cars were only a few hundred yards after the road-bridge. It was a run of above-average distance and, in the humid atmosphere, very energy-sapping. Fortunately the Hares provided us with bulging packets of tomyam mee-siam and a huge pot of bean-soup to replenish our lost carbs.
CIRCLE occupied the road-bend and was constantly interrupted by passing motorists; future hares please take note of the inappropriateness of this run-site; and to aggravate matters we have to conduct our circle under the gawking stares of the Bangla mob! They must have found us very silly! In any case the show must go on. The Whip was again up in his elements; but due a bout of gout, he limped about instead of doing his usual bouncy roly-poly rumble. The champion team of the Quad Run boat-race was honoured and the trophy was passed around to be fondled by everyone; cheers and well done JB! When the Whip adjourned court, there were no floor-takers, so much so the GM had to exercise his royal decree to force some members to take centrestage. Perhaps next time, the Whip or the GM can appoint some mystery whips in advance so that they can load their ammo and are not caught tongue-tied. The Circle Circus was over by 9 and we took a short drive to nearby Hillxuan Restaurant for the On-On which was something different from the regular fare. Excellent grub! Worth a re-visit! Thanks Cili Padi and David ‘Buay’ See for the good run and the delectable On-On
