Kojak Inaugural Run
If you look at the definition of ‘Kojak’ in Wikipedia, it goes like this…”Kojak is an American television series starring Telly Savalas as the eponymous, bald New York City Police Department Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak. It aired from October 24, 1973 to March 18, 1978 on CBS
The key word here is ‘BALD’ or in local term ‘BOTAK’. This idea of the JB Kojak Hash was spun by a bunch of bald senior hash men, half drunk after wild night of beer binging. A simple back to hashing idea of running once a month on the second week of the month. It will be a MEN only mismangement team, WOMEN are invited as guest only. Damages : RM50 yearly membership, with RM20, RM30 for members and guests respectively per run. A title of ‘founding member’ was offerred to anyone who signed up as member on the day.
Turnout on this inaugural run was overwhelming, 110 strong versus 100 available T shirts. From afar as Batu Pahat there was Bulldozer and Original. From Kahang, I see faces such as Liew Wen Chen and Hoon. From Layang, I could see Lau Su Kong and the pretty angels. There were also many familiar faces, Michael from MH3, Ah Pui from JCSC HASH, OKC, Double V, Tina, Goyang Goyang, Konkek, Ang Mo Lan (KTGM) and too many to list…. I would say that all the JB chapters were represented.
The run was called at 6.00pm and this run at Impian Emas took us through some muddy patches. It was a wet feet affair with some stream crossing. Checks seems to be a little far especially the third check, we took almost fifteen minutes to break. The combination of a wet gloomy weather and yellow trail paper added to the complication. The good thing was that it kept everyone together. It was an hour’s run.
Holding a circle of 100 strong without hailers was difficult but the GM Moh Man Tai, managed to on down the hares of the day and the GMs of visiting chapters. The new committees were introduces to the crowd ( see pictures above) Ninja took over the circle as hash whip and there was also our Disco Singh taking the circle open session.
The food served at 63 was also pretty okay, more vegetable dishes than meat. For the boat race session, JB HHH came in first. Led by Soh Big, Sore Arse and Safety Boots, the winner wasn’t judge by speed but rather by the least left over. It was a fun and successful night. Thanks to Tiger for being the sponsor for beer and thereafter the official beer for Kojak HHH .
