Johor Bahru Hash House Harriers Run 2125

Lucky Draw Run

Run : 2125

Date :1st July 2009
Runsite : Tmn Indec .
Hare : See Pay Song & Anti Climax 0127777268

JBHHH RUN No. 2125 (01-07-09)
HARES: SEEPAYSONG AND ANTI-CLIMAX, RUN ALSO SEEPAYSONG! Lim Sui Keng (Seepaysong) and his faster half Ten Min Fong (Anti-climax) laid a very sensible run at their own backyard in Taman Indec (Berjaya Industrial Park). The turnout was phenomenal with so many guests from the fledgling Skudai Hash and some dog-eaters from Kulai. Seepaysong gave the usual pre-run briefing which, as usual too, fell on deaf ears. Like all runs here, it started with all of us hurdling over the berm and plunging into the ubiquitous palms. The trail was rather tame and circuitous which facilitated the SCBs to do their bidding effortlessly. There were four checks in all; the first was on the verge of a gully and paper was found across the chasm. The second was a backie near the veggie farm but due to familiarity of the terrain the front hounds sniffed out the connection without much ado. The third and the fourth were deep in the palm estate but were placed close by. Bulldozer, who was fondling his horn, unabashedly pressed it harder even though he was short-cutting. This in fact was an act of sabotage! SCBs should never hail the On-call! After descending from the last check, the red trail appeared on the long straight track that was in effect the ‘Jalan Ah Fook’ of this estate and the Indec houses were just at the tip. Back at the beer-wagon there was a vast array of finger-food that can even satiate a cow! Anti-climax is really a good kueh-maker! In fact some of the assortments of delicacies were personally made by her. As it was not a very long run, everyone came back in broad daylight and even had the luxury to indulge in some post-run gossips before washing up. Circle started with a one-minute’s silence for the demise of Free Beer’s mother and then the boring Swing Low was swung with the pungent durian-eaters taking the lead. Moh Mun Thai and Screwdriver sang a few hash hymns before the GM iced the Hares and their two slaves, AJINOMOTO and IRONMAN. The Whip was at his level best this week and was able to walk with a balanced gait after his gout is out! Due to the enthusiasm and over-exuberance of the Whip and the floor-takers, the Circle dragged on until 9.25 pm! The On-On was at 63 in Impian Emas and, as promised, there was a lucky draw courtesy of the generous hares; or was it a way to gain popularity? Perhaps Seepaysong should join politics! Anyway many thanks for the lovely On-On and the bottles you bought. Many Happy Returns to the July Babies!

JBHHH RUN No. 2123 (17-06-09): Hares: Cilipadi and David See

HOT LIKE CILI-PADI, BUT DAVID CANNOT SEE

The weather was indeed searing, but David See cannot see. No he isn’t blind, it’s just that in Hokkien it means David cannot die! In fact despite the scorching heat, he, together with Fuel Pump, Maochong and G-String, laid a commendable trail stretching from the SERI AUSTIN run-site to the edge of Adda Heights, Bandar Dato Onn, the posterior of Starhill Golf Club and right up to the pylons in the interior of Ladang Tebrau. It was a long and circuitous trail that was forcibly bisected by the river which has only two bridges spanning it; miss these and we have to get wet!
The run started with a stroll down the Bangla enclave where the bemused inhabitants were preparing dinner in their respective hovels with music blaring away. Upon the slippery descent to the shades of the palms paper turned left towards the edge of the housing estate and swung back to the main track, heading east until we were within sight of Adda Heights and Bandar Dato Onn. Thereafter the trail followed a riparian route following the meanders of the river; but where were we going to suffer the inevitable wade? About a quarter down the trail it happened; but the Hares were thoughtful enough to chop down a fallen tree to serve as a bridge. Balancing across however was a precarious affair, especially for some faint-hearted damsels! After this circus-act, the trail veered left into the nether regions of this vast estate and paused for another two checks, both of which were easily ferreted out by the galloping steeds upfront with consummate ease, leaving the chasing pack panting and puffing far behind .The trail finally wound its way up to the tarmac near the oxidation-pond and our cars were only a few hundred yards after the road-bridge. It was a run of above-average distance and, in the humid atmosphere, very energy-sapping. Fortunately the Hares provided us with bulging packets of tomyam mee-siam and a huge pot of bean-soup to replenish our lost carbs.
CIRCLE occupied the road-bend and was constantly interrupted by passing motorists; future hares please take note of the inappropriateness of this run-site; and to aggravate matters we have to conduct our circle under the gawking stares of the Bangla mob! They must have found us very silly! In any case the show must go on. The Whip was again up in his elements; but due a bout of gout, he limped about instead of doing his usual bouncy roly-poly rumble. The champion team of the Quad Run boat-race was honoured and the trophy was passed around to be fondled by everyone; cheers and well done JB! When the Whip adjourned court, there were no floor-takers, so much so the GM had to exercise his royal decree to force some members to take centrestage. Perhaps next time, the Whip or the GM can appoint some mystery whips in advance so that they can load their ammo and are not caught tongue-tied. The Circle Circus was over by 9 and we took a short drive to nearby Hillxuan Restaurant for the On-On which was something different from the regular fare. Excellent grub! Worth a re-visit! Thanks Cili Padi and David ‘Buay’ See for the good run and the delectable On-On

Run : 2121
Date :03 June 2009
Runsite : Plentong

Hare : Captain Tan 0127041747

JBHHH RUN No.2121 (03-06-09)

CAPTAIN & SUSAN PUNYA NAMA, MONGOL & AJINOMOTO PUNYA SUSU

The run-site was at the Plentong Industrial Estate, at TP hashman Ah Pooi’s Central Label factory to be exact. There was a carnival atmosphere from the very outset as many guests, by special invitation from Madam Kapitan, turned up to add to the pre-run cacophony. Meanwhile the takraw tribe was having a wretched time trying to find a level spot to balance their balls; they ended up playing on the concrete driveway, risking the pain of breaking a few panes! The array of guests included some heavy-weight personages from other chapters, notably the GMs of TP, JCSC Hash, City Hash and the Grand Hazard of JB Hazards; some ancient members of JBHHH from days of yore also put a rare appearance and were bewildered by the size of the maddening crowd which is a far cry from those days.
Come 1800 hr we started the run with a stroll along the factory fencing and squeezed through a small gap onto the soggy pipe-line lawn. After leaping across a narrow stream, we found ourselves on the tarmac to the radar station; paper turned right for a short sojourn in the palms before re-crossing the selfsame tarmac to sweep into the hinterland of Ladang Plentong Kecil. The substance of the entire run was over this part. There were supposed to be three checks but the Third was abandoned after some futile forage by the checkers. The First was cracked by TP’s Speedy Sikh JAG and the Second was connected by Hazards’ Hotfoot Hakka LOW HIGH; apparently our local mob was totally outclassed! The Third check, within the unkempt palm plantation, proved to be too elusive. According to the co-hares it was only less than 100 metres away, but due the confusion of the checkers short-circuiting to the in-trail, all of them aborted the run thereafter, each blaming the other of the fiasco. At the Circle the general consensus was that Lao Chee was the culprit who caused the snafu and so he was publicly pilloried.
Back at the factory premises, the Hares have already set up a lavish Satay buffet which the famish flock wolfed down like (?), a pack of wolves of course! A flagon of toddy was on hand to wash down the cholesterol. Circle beer was selling at 3 for 10 bucks with subsidy from Captain’s Bank. In the absence of the pedigreed GM Bulldog, our vanilla-flavoured JM Icecream conducted proceedings with her mellifluous voice. For starters the Swing Low was swung by all the guests and the real action started in earnest when the acting Whip FLINTSTONE ignited his flame against the offenders, which included the visiting GMs and the fumbling co-hares. The June babies were invited to do their blow-job and in the midst of the hoo-hah, four members were ‘mugged’ for chalking up run milestones, Big Bum (400th), Kanasai (300th), Lao Chee (200th) and Curly C (100th); congrats! Circle-time spilled over until 9.25 pm when we broke up to reassemble at Fong Shen Restaurant in Molek for the grand banquet; a keg of Guinness Draft was provided for an alternative taste and in less than 20 minutes the tap ran dry; 10 per head were collected and the total was directed by Captain to be donated to charity. Thanks and God Bless! It was indeed a great party. ON-ON!
