JBHHH RUN No. 2198 (24-11-2010)
THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS WITH A FOOD-GALORE!
The run-site was conveniently located at PELANGI INDAH to suit the OC INDOMEE who is the Penghulu of the Taman; this annual DEEPAVALI RUN was hosted by our 5 Hindu brothers (one Bayee included) and partly subsidised by our club and our levies. The initial slight drizzle drove many who had registered earlier to turn up late and the resultant effect was that the run started with a less-than-encouraging crowd, very unlike our usual horde of about hundred! After sheltering under the large marquee, the rain subsided for us to embark on our Deepavali stroll. Co-OC KANASAI gave us a briefing in Tamil which only Tongkat Ali understood! And off we went towards the pipeline.
The entire run was on very well-trodden and familiar terrain and MOH MUN THAI complained that the supposed three-check affair was reduced to two when our kiasu porcine Singaporean-guest BABI HUTAN stumbled onto the paper on the pipeline and truncated the trail substantially! The latter even had the audacity to brag that the run was no better that their Singapore Thirsdae pondan-trails! The start was through the derelict housing estate of JP PERDANA and then the paper took an abrupt turn over the stream, into the ubiquitous palms. The rest of the trail was a mundane wandering towards the quarry-end of the posterior of Puteri Park and rounding back over the craggy hinterland of the houses. The first finisher KAPILAN came back well within the hour; 80 % of the pack typically didn’t see any checks at all! Welcome to JBHHH!
The GM called the circle with the usual pendulous swinging ritual followed by the icing of our Hindu asses and followed by a brief announcement by the Inter-Sec and then followed by a promo from the GP GM about their upcoming celebration cum D n D. Mild pyrotechnics were lighted to illuminate the one-ring circus. However the substantial part of the Bollywood program was hijacked by Flintstone and his cohorts to delve into the goings-on at the Singapore Thirsdae D n D which proved to be too boring for the non-attendees to stomach! Perhaps next time such episodes should be given a quota at the circle! Not everyone was there! It is rather presumptuous that the trivial infractions of a few should interest the majority! Sanity was finally restored when Moh Mun Thai did a bit of prosecutions on the day’s offences; LSB and his G/F sat the longest as many of the former’s so-called comrades piled on his agony by amplifying and exaggerating his sins!
Due to the On-On being on-site, the Circle was prolonged until way past 9.20 before we broke up for the food-carnival! Indeed our Indian brethren did an excellent job! They compensated for the short run with a plenitude of victuals that can satiate an army! There were Fried Chicken and Porridge a’la Bochialan (GP) and dainty cakes a’la Kongkek followed by a vast array of Indian delicacies that included Roti Jala, Mamak mee-goreng, nasi kari, fried fish, mutton, veggies and endless sticks of satays! What a party it was! And to top it all a quality blue tee was given to commemorate the festival! Good show-lah bro! TO MAHARAJAH, INDOMEE, KANASAI, PAIMA, TODI-SAMY AND DISCO, NANDRI & SUKRIA!
A VERY SATISFIED AND GRATEFUL CHINAMAN
